Get hitched in gothic grandeur
Castell Coch on the northern outskirts of Cardiff is a fairytale castle fit for a prince and his prince, or princess and her princess, in search of the perfectly formed, yet quirky, venue to tie the knot.
A gothic Victorian fantasy built by the then richest man in the world, The Marquess of Bute, and his visionary architect William Burges, the whole building, with its Disney-esque turrets, is testament to what money can buy when money is no object.
A gloriously over the top structure with wall coverings and furniture to match.
Minimalist it is most definitely not.
Although small by comparison with many of the other castles owned by ourselves, Cadw, the Welsh Assembly Government’s historic environment service, it is large on character and seriously bold in its style.
However, as one of our most popular ceremony venues, early booking is advised. It may not take hoards of well wishers or guests like its near neighbour, Caerphilly Castle, but this may be of help if you are looking to keep numbers and costs down.
If you have some 30 or so close friends and family you wish to invite then this could be just up your street…or drawbridge
Truly historic!
Bookings are dealt with by the staff at the castle. For further information please telephone 029 2081 0101 or visit www. cadw.wales.gov.uk.
