About Prince of Wales Theatre
In 2004 the Prince of Wales Theatre re-opened, after undergoing a major £8 million refurbishment. By restoring the building to its original Art Deco splendour, the theatre`s owner, Sir Cameron Mackintosh, has reintroduced period glamour to the venue. Light, spacious, foyer and entertaining spaces were created, and a lift installed to allow wheelchair access to the Piano and Delfont Rooms. There are seven areas within the theatre, including the auditorium, now available for hire outside performance times. The Prince of Wales is fully licensed for weddings with associated reception space on four levels for up to 500 people. The Prince of Wales Theatre is currently home to Mamma Mia!
DELFONT ROOM:
The Delfont Room, named in honour of Lord Delfont, theatre owner and entrepreneur, is situated on the lower ground floor of the theatre. This spacious, stylishly lit, Art Deco room boasts one of the longest theatre bars in London and has proved a highly successful late night cabaret venue and meeting space. It is ideal for receptions, press conferences, presentations, award ceremonies and weddings.
The Delfont Room is linked via a short flight of stairs to the Piano Room – both rooms can be hired together. The maximum capacity is 350 people.
PIANO ROOM:
The Piano Room is an intimate space at lower ground floor level featuring a white baby grand piano, and fabulous prints of famous designs by Erté. This is ideal for a small-scale recital, musical entertainment, presentation or play reading.
We also have four other areas at the theatre which can be utilised – Folies, Erté, Prince`s and American Bar. Please contact us for more details.
